🆕 SketchUp Connector 2.12 New Features
➕ Create New Stream Button
The new "Create New Stream" button lets you create a new project directly from the SketchUp Connector. This makes it easy to get started with Speckle and to collaborate on your designs right away. You can give your projects a description and make them public or private directly from here.
🔗 Add by URL or ID
The "Add by URL or ID" button lets you add projects to the SketchUp connector via their URL. Now, you can receive public streams/projects without a problem.
🌳 Create Branch (Model) Button
The "Create Branch" button lets you create a new branch (model) within a project directly from Sketchup Connector. This is useful for organizing your work into smaller, more manageable chunks.
⚙️ Advanced Settings
We've also added some advanced settings that give you more control on sending your models to Speckle.
🚀 Combine Faces by Material
The "Combine Faces by Material" feature lets you combine faces that share the same material into a single mesh when exporting to Speckle. This can help reduce the size of your models and make them load faster (at least 10x times faster!), particularly if you have many small faces with the same material. By enabling this option in the advanced settings, you can ensure that your models are optimised for Speckle and can be shared more easily with your collaborators.
🖼️ SketchUp Scenes to Speckle Views
We've also added support for SketchUp scenes in Speckle views. This way, you can view your SketchUp scenes directly within Speckle’s amazing web viewer. It's never been this easy to share models with customers who don't have to go through the hassle of installing SketchUp. It's all accessible via Speckle's web viewer.
💬 Attribute Support
In addition to these new features, we've added support for attributes. Now, you can send your models to Speckle and receive them anywhere without losing any of your model's attributes.
📹 Always Face-Camera Components
We've also added support for Always Face-Camera Components. It is now possible for you to send Always-Face-Camera Components to Speckle and receive them back in SketchUp.
🎨 Layer Support
Lastly, your SketchUp layers will be preserved when they are sent to Speckle, thanks to our latest Layer Support. You can receive them back anywhere, anytime.
🤫 What’s Next
We're working on a new Revit to SketchUp workflow that will make it easier than ever to collaborate on your designs. With this new workflow, users will be able to send Revit models using Speckle, which means they work with Revit data regardless of whether or not they have Revit licenses. Learn more about this here.
